Friday Night Racing

Portland Yacht Club have been invited, please contact Neil if you are interested for more details.

Hi all,

I am pleased to say we are all organised and ready to start the casual Friday night series, aimed at those who don’t really race but would like to have a go.

Following the racing if anyone would like to meet up at the clubhouse after wards for a drink and bring your own food for a barbecue you would be most welcome.

All we need from you are details of boats wishing to participate with the skippers name, these will be entered into our scoring system to be able to produce some results.

I do hope a few will be interested in joining us on these evenings so will look forward to hearing from you very soon.

Kind Regards

Neil Stroud

Met Office Visit

I have booked a visit to the Met Office in Exeter on 25th November 2017 at 11am. The tour will be adapted to have a saiing emphasis, so hopefully we will all learn a bit of useful information for our future cruising. The tour lasts about two and a half hours or so, depending upon how enthusistic the questioning is ! There are no costs involved other than making your own way there, and any refreshments and cuddly toys you may desire.

I need to get an idea of numbers as soon as possible, as if we have sufficient numbers, we will get the visit to ourselves, otherwise they will make up the slack from the public. So if you could let me know if you would like to join in or not, it would be greatly appreciated and would also confirm that my emails are reaching all PYC members.

Many thanks

Sailing Trip

Experienced sailor and committee member Phil Stringer is heading for Ireland, and plan is to leave Portland on 20th April 2017, subject to all the usual weather caveats. If any members are interesterd in cruising in company with him please get in touch for more information by email or by the Portland Face Book

I'm looking forward to seeing some of you over the Easter weekend, and as a member suggested at the launching supper, perhaps it would be a good idea to have a shake down sail/ float in the bay and test our anchors and windlass' ready for the summer bbqs at the beach.

Thank You

Thank you to all the members who made the Launching Supper such a success. Also to Dean and Reddyhoff for so generously providing a bottle of wine per couple and The Boat that Rocks for looking after us so well.
